It shows people that you mean business. How you dress influences how you feel and how others perceive you. When you find the perfect “power outfit” that makes you feel like you can take on the world, that confidence comes across to others as well. For me, this outfit includes a sharp blazer and heels.
They can be dressed up or down. Blazers are perfect for the work week, but can also be worn on the weekends. Next time you want to wear distressed denim and a basic T-shirt add a blazer and heels to instantly amp up your look. This casual, yet sophisticated look is perfect for post-office happy hour!
When you invest in a quality blazer, it will last for years. Although fits and details may subtly change, blazers will never go out of style. Invest in a classic cut and color in order to make the most of your purchase. If you're tempted to try a trendy style (like floral print or velvet), look for a more affordable version since you'll likely be tired of it in a year or so. It has a nice tailored fit and the cuffed sleeves are lined with a pretty striped fabric. Plus the one-button closure and flap pockets are very classic, so they won't be out of style anytime soon.
Blazers are very versatile. A blazer gives you endless outfit possibilities and can be worn year-round. Like I said earlier, it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Plus, if you get a neutral color you can wear it with all of the pants, skirts, dresses and tops you already own. It's an easy way to make any outfit look prim and proper.
They flatter every body type. Whether you want a trim fit or slouchy boyfriend style, blazers come in a variety of cuts and shapes. I find that tailored blazers work on almost everyone because they cinch at the waist and have a structured shape. Depending on your height, you can play around with cropped or longline blazers to see which length looks best. There are so many choices, so try on a bunch and see which one makes you feel the most confident! 

Shoulders
Shoulders are one of the most important areas when determining fit of a blazer.
The shoulders of the blazer should rest where your own shoulder ends.
If the shoulder seam is above or below your natural shoulder bend the fit isn't right.

Bust and waist
The fit of the bust and waist areas of a blazer will vary depending upon the type and style of blazer you wear. Regardless of the blazer style, the key thing to keep in mind in regards to fit is ensuring that it's not too big or too small.
If the fit is too big in the bust and/or waist it will often slouch and fold around that area of the body.
On the flip side, if the bust and/or waist is too small you will notice pulling.

Sleeves
Now sleeve lengths and styles are going to be different by nature depending upon the overall style of the blazer.
When you have a full length sleeve blazer it should rest right at the joint of your thumb.
To properly check the sleeve length, stand straight with your arms down at your sides.
It's not uncommon to need some sleeve length tailor and is often an easy fix.

Length
Length is another element that's going to differ based on the type of blazer. A good rule of thumb when checking the length of a blazer is that it doesn't rest in an unflattering place.
More often than not, the most flattering placement of a blazer will be just above or just below the widest part of your body where the blazer lays.
If you have an oversized blazer that's on the longer side and rests around the hip area, make sure it's just above or just below the widest part of your hips.

Classic Blazers
For a timeless office-appropriate look, opt for a simple navy or khaki blazer. Try a navy double-breasted wool style during the cooler months; in the summer, a light-blue or khaki linen blazer is both stylish and comfortable.

Tweed Blazers
Channel your inner English professor with a tweed jacket (elbow patches optional). The cozy fabric is timeless and sophisticated.

Printed Blazers
Feeling bold? Blazers don't need to be neutral. Try a floral print or a colorful plaid.

Velvet Blazers
For a celebratory affair, a velvet blazer is fun and festive. Use it to dress up everything from jeans to slipdresses.

Satin Blazers
Like velvet jackets, satin blazers are perfect for an upscale event. They offer a chic way to stand out among a sea of cocktail dresses.

Leather Blazers
If you want to add a little edge, a leather blazer is the way to go. Try it with jeans for a casual but fashionable look.
